What happens when you 'venture

One of the great things about our time in Frankfort is all of the new experiences we have. There are new trails to explore, hills to climb, and coasts to follow. In addition to these outdoor adventures, we also like to check out shops and restaurants, which always provide something unique and enjoyable. I am so grateful to have an adventurer as a partner and a place like Benzie County to explore!

Last weekend, after hours at Fernhaven doing some much needed cleaning and organizing, we wanted to find something to do after our cold, windy hike on the Betsie Valley Trail ended. We drove past the property and there was too much snow to park at the end of the driveway, so we needed a new plan. I had seen some signs on M-122 on our way back and forth from GR for St. Ambrose Cellars, and suggested to Mike to check it out. We had no idea what to expect.

About a 15 minute drive from Frankfort, we arrived. It was packed! We found a parking spot and saw immediately that there was a frisbee golf course and several big beautiful buildings including a barn. We found our way to the restaurant due to great wayfinding signs and kind people. In addition to their normal tasting and food menu, there happened to be a chili contest and a frisbee golf tournament happening! It was cold (remember), but we felt cozy and well taken care of in the restaurant. The pizza was fabulous and we enjoyed our IPAs. Next time, we'll have to try the fish tacos and the mead, and check out some live music!

When you are looking to take a break from the everyday, it is essential to keep your eyes out for new ideas (the signs along the freeway!) and to be ready to step into something unknown. These experiences can lead to other new experiences, or lead to a new favorite location or activity in your life. We discovered a new place that we will definitely come back to. I can't wait to see what's next!
