OMG this is exciting. Today I am sharing a new project I am working on that helps me hone my creative skills while also making pretty things... a new pattern collection! I've opened a design shop on Spoonflower to post designs that can be printed on fabric and many other cool products as well. And I want you to check it out!
In my perfectionistic heart and soul, I had wanted to have the full collection complete (maybe a total of six to ten designs?) before I posted and shared it out. I wanted to have ordered fabric and created fun things, set up a photo shoot, and created a well-curated marketing campaign to share the story of the designs and how I envision them to be used out in the wild.
However, I realized something. I needed something to prompt and support this project. And this blog post is this first step in getting the ball rolling. Placing the first brick in the path. Lighting the spark. Planting the seed. Posting the first patterns.
And while I could save the posting online for sharing of final products, completed visions, and beautifully wrapped packages, I believe writing and sharing the journey is an essential part of my process in creation. Writing helps me solidify in my own mind what makes me excited and what I want to do next!

And so, with a toot of my small little horn, I share my first three patterns in my collection called "Scandi Woven Block Geos". The motifs are pulled from a large Scandinavian woven rug design and modified for a modern, geometric pattern. I have three more in "works in progress" that will be coming soon. (Of note, my official collection cannot be shared on Spoonflower until I have at least five in the collection, so that gives me a kick in the butt to get 'er done).
My current goal is to use the designs in this collection to outfit my Airstream Basecamp with some killer interior style. Pillows? Sheets? Wallpaper? I get excited to think about other ways to use the patterns on things like yoga mats, scarves, stickers?!?! The possibilities are endless.
Thank you for being part of my journey of figuring it out. We are just getting started!
